We are often asked by site visitors and business owners what is Disclosure-Based Communication? And why is it so important?

Disclosure-Based Communication is simply a method of communication that uses EDUCATION as the tool to get people to respond to offers and buy products and services instead of using sales gimmicks and hype.

You see…deep down the majority of people have a few common characteristics.

    1. People don’t initially trust people they don’t know.
    2. People don’t like to be “sold.”
    3. People like to know or have “insider information” (it gives them a sense of power).
    4. People need to justify their purchase decisions based on some logical facts.
    5. People will always take the “lowest-risk” option.

Disclosure-Based Communication is all about helping people to make better decisions in a truthful and non-threatening way.

In essence, a business replaces the sales pitch with an educational pitch.  Consumers respond to this approach because they rarely are educated by advertising and they’re sick and tired of the “traditional” sales pitch. The “traditional” sales pitch is…buy from me for no logical, rational reason because we’re good at “closing” the deal. This approach will close some sales, but most often just alienates people and leaves many feeling they were “sold” something they didn’t want or need.

At LocalLoop, we understand that the majority of consumers follow a step-by-step process when making a buying decision:

    1. They gather information.
    2. Review their alternatives.
    3. Make their choice.
    4. Review their choice after the fact.

In order to make the buying process more transparent for consumers, we created the term Disclosure-Based Communication. Because we believe an educated consumer is a happy consumer.
